Overview

Cursor
Default selection cursor used to pick and manipulate drawings.
Cursor Crosshair Dot Hand Eraser

The cursor is the default interaction tool for non- operations. It selects existing , drags them to new positions, and exposes resize handles and anchor points for adjustment. Every drawing tool returns to the cursor state after placement, making it the central for managing chart .

Selection mechanics

When the cursor tool is active, clicking a selects it and shows its anchor points or resize handles. A selected drawing is highlighted with a colored border or node markers, depending on the drawing type. Lines show endpoint handles; shapes show corner and edge handles; labels show a bounding box with rotation handle.

Clicking on empty chart space deselects all . If you click another while one is already selected, the first drawing is deselected and the new one is selected. Use Ctrl/Cmd + click to build or modify a multi-selection group.

Multi-select behavior

Multi-selection groups maintain their relative positions when moved. This lets you reposition multiple , indicators, or as a single unit while preserving their layout. Deleting a multi-selection group removes all members at once, which is faster than deleting individually.

You can also draw a selection (click and on empty space) to select all within the rectangle area. This is useful for cleaning up dense chart regions with many overlapping .

Best practices

★
Pro tip:Use -select ( on empty space) to quickly gather all in a messy area, then delete or reposition them as a group. This is much faster than selecting each one individually.
ℹ
Note:Grouped selections maintain their relative positioning. Use this to move multiple indicators or while preserving your carefully arranged layout.
★
Pro tip:When fine-tuning a 's position, use the arrow keys for pixel-level nudging after selecting the drawing. This avoids accidental misalignment from mouse .
ℹ
Note:The snap-to-bar setting is particularly useful when placing and vertical lines at precise OHLC levels — the snaps to the exact price of the nearest bar.

Common issues

!
Caution:If images or complex appear to lag when dragged, reduce the handle size setting or disable real-time preview during . The chart will update the position only on release.
ℹ
Note:Some (e.g., labels, ) have a minimum click target area. If you are having trouble selecting a , or switch to the selection method.
ℹ
Note: that are locked (via the lock in the object tree) cannot be selected or modified by the cursor tool. Unlock them first in the manager .

Object tree integration

The cursor tool works -in-hand with the object tree . When you select a on the chart, it is also highlighted in the object tree, and vice versa. This dual selection lets you manage that are difficult to click directly — such as labels or drawings hidden behind other elements.

Context menu integration

-clicking a selected opens a context menu with actions specific to that drawing type. From this menu you can change colors, adjust line styles, toggle , lock or unlock the drawing, access properties, or delete. The context menu is the fastest way to modify a drawing's appearance without navigating to the properties .

Selection persistence

remain selected after zoom, pan, or timeframe changes unless you explicitly deselect them. This lets you apply style changes to a and then inspect the result at different zoom levels without losing your selection. The selection is cleared when you start a new drawing placement or activate a different tool.

Drag threshold & dead zone

To prevent accidental dragging when you intend to click, the cursor tool uses a threshold of 4 pixels. This means a click-and-hold with movement is treated as a click (select), while a movement exceeding 4 pixels before release is treated as a drag (move). The threshold is configurable in the settings for users who prefer more or less drag sensitivity.

Touch & pen behavior

On devices, tap selects a and long-press enters . On pen devices, the pen tip selects and drags with no threshold — the pen is assumed to be a input device. These input-adapted behaviors ensure the cursor tool feels regardless of your input method.
