Best practices

★
Pro tip:Zoom out to check the broader trend before analyzing a short-term setup. A bullish flag on the 1-minute chart may sit within a strong downtrend on the daily — context avoids false signals and keeps your analysis aligned with the dominant trend.
ℹ
Note:The chart loads on demand. Zooming out to very wide time ranges may additional data requests from your data feed. The status bar shows data loading for historical queries, and the chart will progressively fill in as data arrives.
★
Pro tip:Combine zoom out with . Place key support and resistance levels while zoomed out, and they will remain visible as reference when you for detailed analysis.
ℹ
Note:Zoom out is also useful for detecting multi-year patterns like , cup and handle, and long-term trend channels that are not visible on shorter timeframes.

Common issues

!
Caution:If zooming out triggers a slow load or the chart appears blank momentarily, the data feed is fetching historical data. Wait for the data to load — the chart will populate as bars arrive.
ℹ
Note:Some instruments have limited historical . If you cannot zoom out beyond a certain , the chart has loaded all available data for that .
ℹ
Note:Zooming out on custom timeframes or synthetic instruments may behave differently than on standard timeframes. The available range depends on how the custom was constructed.

Zoom & data loading

When you zoom out, the chart requests additional historical from the data provider. This data is cached locally so that subsequent zoom actions within the same are instant. The initial zoom-out on a fresh chart may show a brief loading indicator while data is fetched. The chart automatically manages data resolution — at wider zoom levels, it loads aggregated data (daily or weekly bars) to maintain performance.

Zoom history

Zoom-out actions are tracked in the same zoom history stack as zoom-in actions. You can navigate through the complete zoom history — both in and out — using undo/redo. This integrated history means you can freely for detail and out for context without losing track of your navigation .

Context preservation during zoom-out

When you zoom out, the chart preserves the center of your current view. If you were looking at price action around a specific date, zooming out keeps that date centered while the visible range on both . This context preservation means you do not lose your place when switching between and overview — the area you were studying remains in the center of the screen.

Extended data loading indicators

When zooming out triggers loading, a indicator appears in the status bar showing the loading progress. The indicator shows "Loading historical data..." with a progress bar. If the data request is , you can the loading by clicking the "X" on the progress indicator. The chart will show the data it has loaded so far rather than waiting for the full request to complete.

Zoom-out limits & data boundaries

The maximum zoom-out level is determined by the available for the . For major indices and heavily traded equities with decades of history, you can zoom out to see 10+ years of data. For newer instruments or those with limited data feeds, the zoom-out range may be restricted to the available data range. The scrollbar shows the full extent of loaded data, with a shaded region indicating out-of-range areas.
