Martingale modes

Family

Size grows as the ladder deepens. Faster recovery, escalating capital, fat tail.

The mechanism

Each level commits more than the last, so the volume-weighted average entry falls faster than the price does. A that only retraces part of the move can therefore recover the whole ladder. The mechanism cuts both ways: exposure grows fastest exactly when the market is proving the thesis wrong.

Size grows deeper into — faster recovery, more capital.

The trade-off

Gain
The average entry collapses toward the deepest fill, so break-even is much closer than the suggests.
Cost
Capital grows super-linearly. Linear costs 55× base at 10 levels; exponential costs ~2046×.
Tail
The loss has a fat tail that grows with depth. This is the family that requires a .

Modes in Martingale

Cost is the size of a 10-level ladder, in base-lot units. ★ marks a practical pick.

Choosing within the family

  • Gentle — marti_grid_logarithmic, marti_grid_sqrt, marti_grid_simple: affordable at depth, modest recovery benefit.
  • Moderate — marti_grid_half, marti_grid_step: predictable, easy to cap.
  • Full — marti_grid_linear / marti_grid: the , and the only multi-order option (level i places i orders with i targets).
  • — marti_grid_geometric, marti_grid_power: tunable curves for people fitting a specific .
  • Extreme — marti_grid_exponential, marti_grid_triangular, marti_grid_fibonacci: only with hard level caps and .
!
Caution:If you want martingale recovery you can leave running, use the capped family instead. It doubles to a ceiling and then holds, which removes the blow-up without removing most of the benefit.
